Darien Mayor Joseph Marchese has been elected President of the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference for the 2022-23 year.
During the past year, Marchese served as Vice President of the Conference. He succeeds Westmont Mayor Ronald Gunter as President, with Wheaton Mayor Phil Suess now serving as Vice President.
The Conference – a coalition of 35 municipalities throughout DuPage County – unanimously elected Marchese at its recent annual business meeting in May.
A 33-year resident of DuPage County, Marchese was elected Mayor of Darien in 2019 after serving as a City Alderman for 22 years. Suess was elected Mayor of Wheaton in 2019. Before his term as Mayor, Suess had served as a City Councilman since 2005.
Under their leadership, the Conference will continue its efforts to promote effective municipal government and foster intergovernmental cooperation for DuPage communities and the state as a whole.
