Grant Opportunities

The DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference would like to inform its members about two grant opportunities from ComEd and The Home Depot. Please refer to the descriptions below for further information about each grant. 

The ComEd Powering Safe Communities Grant 
The Powering Safe Communities grant program will award grants of up to $10,000 to support municipal public safety initiatives throughout the ComEd region. ComEd provides the funds and the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus is the grant program administrator. Applications will be accepted from Friday, January 19 – Friday, March 16, 2018.

The ComEd Green Region Program Grant

ComEd is offering a grant opportunity through the ComEd Green Region Program. Eligible applicants are municipalities, townships, counties, park districts, conservation districts, and forest preserve districts within ComEd’s service territory.

The ComEd Green Region Program is administered through Openlands, an organization dedicated to protecting natural and open space in northeastern Illinois. This grant awards up to $10,000 and may be used to pay for up to 50% of eligible activities. Applicants can apply at https://openlands.submittable.com/submit. The Openlands’ online application system will close at 5:00 p.m. Central Time on March 15, 2017. Applicants awarded funds for their projects will be expected to fully expend the grant award within 18 months of its receipt.

The Home Depot Community Impact Grant

The Home Depot Foundation is offering The Home Depot Community Impact Grant in the amount of up to $5,000. Tax-exempt public service agencies and 501c designated organizations in the U.S. that use volunteers to improve the physical health of their community are eligible to apply. Grants are given in the form of The Home Depot gift cards for the purchase of tools, materials, or services. The primary goal is to provide grants and volunteer opportunities to support the renovation, refurbishment, retrofitting, and accessibility modifications of existing homes, centers, schools and other similar facilities.

This is a rolling application process. The last day to submit applications in 2017 is December 31.
